What Makes It Special?

Festival grounds are notorious for poor mobile data and overcrowded networks. CrewMate's Emergency System is designed specifically for these conditions.

📡

Dual-Channel Alerts

Send emergency alerts via the CrewMate website when you have data, or via SMS when the network is congested or unavailable.

📍

Precise GPS Location

Website alerts include exact GPS coordinates with a Google Maps link. SMS alerts rely on your description of where you are.

⚡

Instant Notifications

All designated emergency contacts are immediately notified via both SMS and email for maximum reliability.

🔒

Privacy First

Your location is only shared during active emergencies and only with your group's designated emergency contacts.

🌐

Works Anywhere

As long as you have basic cellular service, SMS alerts will go through. The system works across borders in 5 languages.

🚨

Festival-Optimized

Built specifically for festival scenarios: medical issues, getting lost, or when someone needs immediate assistance.

How It Works

Getting help in an emergency shouldn't be complicated. Here's how CrewMate's Emergency System works:

1

Set Up Emergency Contacts

Group admins designate emergency contacts from crew members before the festival. The emergency button only appears during festival dates.

  • Admins select who receives emergency alerts
  • Contacts must have phone numbers for SMS notifications
  • Works only during active festival dates (with 1-day buffer)
2

Trigger an Emergency Alert

When you need help, trigger an emergency alert through one of two methods:

  • Via Website: Press the emergency button with your GPS location (requires internet)
  • Via SMS: Send any text message when data is unavailable—no keywords needed
3

Automatic Notification

Once triggered, the system immediately notifies all emergency contacts:

  • Contacts receive SMS alerts with your message and location
  • Email notifications include a Google Maps link
  • Website alerts include GPS coordinates with accuracy radius
  • SMS alerts include your described location (no auto-GPS)

Emergency via SMS (No Internet Required)

When festival networks are overloaded and mobile data doesn't work, you can still trigger an emergency alert using a simple SMS message. This is what makes CrewMate unique.

📱 How SMS Emergency Works

No keywords needed. Send any SMS to our emergency number and we'll automatically identify you and forward your message.

You → CrewMate Emergency
"I'm not feeling well, dizzy. Sitting main stage near the left bar"
Just describe your situation and location. SMS doesn't include GPS automatically.

What happens next?

  1. Our system receives your SMS and identifies you by your phone number
  2. If you're in an active festival group with emergency contacts, we process it
  3. We analyze your message for urgency and location details (5 languages supported)
  4. Your message is forwarded to all emergency contacts via SMS and email
  5. You receive a confirmation reply in your preferred language
⚠️ Important: SMS does not include automatic GPS location. You must describe your location in the message so your crew can find you.

📶 Minimal Signal Required

SMS messages require significantly less signal strength than mobile data. Even with 1 bar of 2G signal, your emergency text will go through.

🔋 Battery Efficient

Sending an SMS uses much less battery than trying to load a website or app on a congested network. Save your battery for when help arrives.

🚫 No Smartphone Required

You can trigger an emergency from any phone that can send text messages—even a basic feature phone or borrowed device.

🌍 Multi-Language Support

The emergency SMS system supports English, German, Spanish, French, and Dutch. Alerts and confirmations are sent in each contact's preferred language.

What Information Is Shared?

During an emergency, your safety is the priority. Here's exactly what information is sent to your emergency contacts:

📍 Location

  • Website: GPS coordinates with accuracy radius
  • SMS: Your described location from the message
  • Google Maps link for instant navigation

👤 Your Identity

  • Your full name
  • Your phone number
  • Festival and group name

⏰ Timestamp

  • Exact time the alert was triggered
  • Timezone information
